Good News, Nature

Happy (Roughly) First Day of Spring!

Technically, I missed it.  In 2024, the first day of Spring came yesterday–a day early–on Tuesday, March 19 (blame the leap year.  And the almost-pneumonia.)

But it’s arrived.  Someone apparently forgot to tell the gods of the Weather Channel, though.  While we’ve had several days in the 60s, and a few in the 70s over the past couple of weeks, tonight and tomorrow we’re looking at lows of 20, with a high tomorrow of 40, and then several days of the yo-yo ups and downs typical of this time of year in this area.

So, winter not over quite yet, at least in practical terms.  And certainly not remotely time to do anything serious outside in the garden.  So I’m going to stay holed up inside, taking more simultaneous (and at the same time) doses of more different kinds of medicine than I’ve ever done in my life, waiting for the sniffles, the sneezing, the snorting, and the coughing to pass, and contemplating that which cheers me up.  After all, just like 5 o’clock, it’s always Spring somewhere, right?

Even if only on the silver screen:

Note: Today actually is  “International Day of Happiness.”  So here’s a twofer:
