“Oh, my giddy aunt,” as darling Auntie Pat used to say. If there ever were a story pointing to the occasional perils associated with modern technology, especially as we try to stay “with it,” and “relevant” into our dotage, this is it.
Bless her heart.
Apparently, several months ago, Dame Judi’s daughter suggested that her mother send birthday greetings to an actor named Chris Logan (no idea who he is, but perhaps he is important to Dame Judi’s daughter), so her mother gamely stepped up and gave it a try.
Dench had gone upstairs to get in the bath when she made what she thought was a phone call.
“So I picked up my phone… and I said, ‘Chris… Happy Happy’… and I just saw these two people turn and go *shocked*,” the star said. “Well… it was FaceTiming them… I don’t know about FaceTime… poor Chris… happy birthday!”
“What a birthday message… you can’t top that though, can you,” Zoe Ball, who hosts BBC Radio 2’s “Zoe Ball Breakfast Show,” replied.
Full disclosure: I’m very fond of Dame Judi, no matter what. She’s a gem. A treasured friend of a family friend, and a valuable resource. And (so many decades ago), in one of her first media appearances, a cutie beyond compare:
Z Cars. Ridley Scott’s launching pad. Those were the days, and I remember them well. (Some of you may have recognized a very young Brian Blessed in this clip.
Yeah.
Baths.
Bubble baths.
Here’s all I’m willing to offer, at least on RWKJ:
Those are, actually, for better or for worse, my feet.
What’s more important is that they exist in what my granddaughter has dubbed “the fairy princess bathroom.”
And that I have sent this photo, after due consideration, to a few of those I love.
And that now I am sharing it with you.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for the live video feed.
